Rated Excellent
Ticker is consistently rated Excellent on Trustpilot, because we put customer service at the heart of everything we do
We work out your initial price like any insurer, but here’s the difference: we assume you’re a safe driver because you’re choosing to have a black box.
That could mean a better price, just for opting to share how you drive.
You can drive as soon as your policy starts and your device will arrive by Royal Mail within a couple of days.
It’s included in the price of your insurance and takes just a few seconds to plug in to your car.
Your Ticker device collects data on things like how smoothly you drive and your speed.
You’ll get a simple view of how you’re driving in the app, so you know if you’re on track for a good driving discount at renewal.
As well as a fairer upfront price, we reward you again in your renewal price if you’ve driven well.
Because you’ve driven with a black box, your renewal quote could be cheaper than other insurers who don’t know you’re a safe driver.
This product is designed for people over 65, to tackle the rise in insurance costs.
The Ticker device plugs into your car’s Onboard Diagnostics (OBD) port. It only takes a few seconds to install and won’t get in the way.
The Ticker app has everything you need for your policy. You can check what operating system your phone has in your settings.
You’ll need a full, valid UK driving licence to be eligible for Ticker older driver insurance.
Ticker rewards your good driving with a discount at renewal, so you could benefit from staying with us year after year.
Ticker only sells fully comprehensive insurance, which means we cover serious injury to the driver as well as other people.
If you’re seriously injured in a crash, personal injury is covered up to £5,000 for you or your partner. Your passengers are protected too, with unlimited personal injury cover.
Unfortunately, lots of people still drive without insurance.
If you’re in an accident that’s not your fault with an uninsured driver, you won’t lose your No Claims Discount and you won’t have to pay any excess.
Just because your car is off the road doesn’t mean you have to be.
If your car is with our nominated repairer, you’ll get a courtesy car to help you get on with your day as quickly as possible.
We know a lot of our drivers are as busy with grandchildren as they ever were with their own kids.
You’re covered for child seats up to £150 each. We’ll replace them after a crash even if they look undamaged, in line with EU advice.
Your Ticker insurance covers any driving you need to do for voluntary work, as long as you’re volunteering your unpaid time with a registered charity.
Keep up the good work!
Take your Ticker insurance on holiday with you.
We’ll cover you to drive your car in Europe for up to 30 days, with all the protection you have in the UK.
Add protection for your hard-earned No Claims Discount (NCD), and you can make two claims per year before it’s reduced.
Your NCD is one of your best tools for reducing the price of your insurance. If you’ve got several years under your belt, we’ll help you keep it that way.
Add RAC breakdown cover to help if your car has a problem. RAC Roadside and Recovery means the RAC will repair or get your car to safety when you’re on the road.
The Roadside, Recovery and At Home option adds help if you break down at or close to home.
Car insurance on its own doesn’t cover legal fees.
This option can protect you if you need to manage a motoring prosecution, or if you need to hire someone to help defend you against a claim.
Ticker is a UK-based motor insurance provider that follows Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) rules as an appointed representative. We’re guided by the FCA’s Consumer Duty, which is all about treating customers fairly.
We sponsor and work with RoadSafe – a leading UK organisation aiming to create better drivers and safer roads.
Black box technology collects information on how a vehicle is being driven. You plug a small device into your car to collect data on location, speed, braking, cornering and other driving factors.
The Ticker device plugs in to a port in your car called the Onboard Diagnostics (OBD) port. Don’t worry, we’ll give you instructions on how to find your OBD port, or you can check in your car’s manual.
Find out more about the Ticker device
Once the Ticker device is plugged in, you can drive as normal. You don’t need your phone in the car, as the device does all the work.
Just keep the device plugged in for the duration of your policy and get a good driving discount at renewal if you’ve driven carefully.
The Ticker app is where you’ll check your driving feedback and manage your policy.
Ticker protects your data in line with the UK’s strict data protection laws. Your driving data is used only for managing your policy, working out your price and protecting you against fraudulent claims.
You can read more about how we look after your data in our privacy policy.
We’re not worried about you creeping slightly over the speed limit every now and then, which is something we all do.
It’s the extremes that we’re concerned with; good driving is all about adapting to the road conditions.
As an overall measure of how safely someone is driving, it’s all about a gentle flow. An occasional emergency brake won’t count against you.
Think about how chauffeurs drive – always trying to give their passengers the most comfortable ride possible.
Your price doesn’t change over the year, but we will give you a good driving discount at renewal if you drive well.
So, if you feel like your current insurer isn’t giving you enough loyalty or credit for being a careful driver, get a Ticker quote to see how much you could save.
Your price will never increase during your policy year because of your driving.
